1. Who we are and what this covers

FoodKeep is a recipe organizer operated by BALANCED LLC (“we”, “us” or “our”). This policy explains how information is handled when you visit this website, use the FoodKeep iOS app or contact us.

FoodKeep is preparing for its first public release. This policy describes the current local kitchen and website. If we introduce online recipe storage, AI processing or additional analytics, we will update this policy and provide the notices and choices required before those features process your information.

2. Your local kitchen

The local kitchen stores the recipes, ingredient lists, instructions, photos, source links, cookbooks, favorites, meal plans and grocery lists you add on your device. It also stores your local display name, onboarding answers and preferences. Using this kitchen does not require an account.

When you share a link or text to FoodKeep through the iOS share sheet, it is placed in a shared on-device inbox so you can review and save it. The current local kitchen does not automatically upload this information to our servers, synchronize it between devices or send it to an AI provider.

Your device and any backups you enable may contain local FoodKeep information. Apple’s own privacy and backup settings apply to services Apple provides. We cannot recover a local kitchen from our servers.

3. Information you choose to send us

If you contact support, we receive your email address and the message, attachments and other details you choose to include. We use these to answer you, investigate problems and handle privacy requests. Please do not send payment card numbers, passwords or sensitive information that is unrelated to your request.

The app includes an optional account interface separate from the local kitchen. Where account services are available, registration and sign-in send the information needed for authentication, such as an email address, credentials or an Apple sign-in token, and basic device and app details to the configured account service. Creating an account does not automatically upload or synchronize your local kitchen.

4. Website and technical information

This website does not set advertising cookies, run advertising pixels or include third-party analytics scripts. Its images, styles and scripts are served with the site. We do not ask for a mailing-list signup or collect form submissions on this website.

Our hosting and network providers may process IP addresses, requested pages, browser information, timestamps and security logs to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. If you follow a link to Apple or another website, that provider’s privacy policy applies.

The current app writes diagnostic events to the device’s system log. It does not include a connected external analytics service. Information you explicitly share with support may include diagnostic details.

5. Photos, device access and purchases

Adding a photo gives FoodKeep access to the item you select through the system photo picker. Access to other device features, where offered, depends on the permissions and choices shown by iOS. You can review permissions in your device settings. Declining optional access may prevent the related feature from working.

Paid subscriptions are being prepared and are not active in the current preview. If you purchase a FoodKeep subscription through the App Store when available, Apple processes the payment under its policies. We do not receive your full payment card details. Purchase identifiers, product information and subscription status may be processed to provide and restore the access you purchased.

6. How we use and share information

We use information sent to us to provide requested services, respond to support and privacy requests, maintain security, investigate errors and meet applicable obligations. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Service providers may process information on our behalf for hosting, communications and technical support. They should receive only the information needed for those services. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect people or the service, or in connection with a business transfer subject to appropriate privacy protections.

We do not acquire ownership of your recipes. Sharing a recipe or source link with another person is your choice. The recipient and third-party recipe websites may handle that information under their own policies.

7. Retention and security

Your local kitchen remains on your device until you delete its contents or remove the app and its data. Device backups may keep copies under your backup settings. Removing the app is different from deleting an online account or cancelling an Apple subscription.

We keep support correspondence and account information only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was provided, including resolving requests, maintaining security and meeting applicable recordkeeping requirements. The relevant purpose, nature of the information and applicable obligations determine the retention period.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the information we handle. No storage or transmission method guarantees complete security. Keep your device protected and avoid sharing account credentials.

8. Your choices and privacy requests

You can edit or delete local recipes and other local kitchen content within the app. You can also manage app permissions and device backups through Apple’s settings. For personal information that we hold, contact us to request access, correction, deletion or a copy, or to raise a concern.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, receive portable data or complain to a privacy regulator. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable rights.

Where European or UK data-protection rules apply, our grounds for processing depend on the activity: providing a requested service, legitimate interests such as security and support, compliance with an obligation, or consent where required. Consent can be withdrawn without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.

9. International processing and children

Website and support providers may process information outside your country. Where applicable law requires protections for a transfer, we will use the required safeguards. Contact us for information about a particular request or service.

FoodKeep is a general-audience cooking tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through account or support services. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us personal information can contact us to request its removal.

10. Changes and contact

We will update the date on this page when this policy changes. Material changes to how information is handled will be brought to your attention in the app or on the website as appropriate.
